Alyeska is a mountain and an oil pipeline company in Alaska. Bruce, an engineer, was part of the pipeline design team in the 1970's. |
Alyeska is 120 acres of steep hilly grazing land in the Otway Ranges hinterland overlooking the coastal resort town of Apollo Bay and beyond across Bass Strait, Victoria. |
Blackwood and Blue Gums line the surrounding valleys from Paradise to the tip of Killala. Birdlife is plentiful and a wallaby temporarily blocks your trail. A sea mist settles in the valleys and sometimes blocks the sun on the way home from the fishing holes in the West Barham river that flanks Alyeska's western boundary. |
Grazing is the primary role. Some 300 Perondale sheep, about 30 Angus cattle are the support activities to key tenants which are the Llamas of Alyeska. |
